SPIRITED SENIORS
Older Adult Ministry

Our mission is to provide creative and innovative leadership in encouraging, training, equipping, and empowering members for ministry by, for, and with older adults in the church and community.

History
A task force, under the leadership of Rev. Dannenfeldt, began exploring an older adult ministry for St. Paul’s in 1999. Following the initial task force activities including a survey of adults 55 and older, an Older Adult Ministry Team was formed.

By the end of the year plans were beginning to materialize and in order to identify the older adults as they gathered for fellowship activities or ministry efforts, the name "St. Paul’s Spirited Seniors" was adopted.

"We older adults are energized by the Holy Spirit.
Because we are "Spirited" we will keep growing spiritually,
reach out in compassion and ministry to our fellow believers of all ages and we will be witnesses,
sharing the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ."

Goals
The challenge of our Older Adult Ministry today is to plan and design events that provide activities for stewardship, fellowship, programs of health, spiritual and educational value and special service opportunities.

This includes the annual “Bless the Years” celebration, a focus given to our older adults in recognition of God’s gracious gifts. Members prepare lunches for bereaved families, when requested, following funeral services. Lunches are prepared and served following the morning Advent and Lenten services. Bible study, trips, and other activities are planned monthly by the  Older Audult Ministry team. We  continue to  look for  ways to reach out and encourage one another in fellowship and ministry.
