STUDENT LIFE
A variety of after school activities are offered for our Preschool, Elementary and Middle School students including:
Band - St. Paul's provides a comprehensive instrumental music program for students in grades 4 to 8. Students are offered the opportunity to play woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. The program includes weekly 30-minute individual (or-like-instrument) lessons during the school day. After school large ensemble rehearsals are held weekly for Beginning Band, Advanced Band, and Jazz Band. Advanced Band has an additional weekly rehearsal.
All Bands perform for the Winter Concert in February and the Spring Concert in May. In addition, the Advanced Band performs for two Sunday worship services, four school chapels, and Lutheran Schools Week. The Jazz Band and Advanced Band also perform for Grandparents Day. All Band students participate in the spring trip to the Hershey Park Festival of Music. Select middle school students perform at the Anne Arundel County and Maryland State Solo Festivals, where they regularly receive Superior ratings.
Our Bands are directed by Douglas Gilcrest.
